The best time to visit Sri Lanka is dependent on the region. Most tourists usually travel to Colombo, Negombo and Kandy which are in west coast and hill country region. In this region December to April offers the best weather.
While the east coast and north are ideal from May to September. If you are traveling on budget, the shoulder seasons April and September–November offer moderate weather, fewer crowds, and lower prices.

Your tourist and business visas allows you to stay 30 days in Sri Lanka, while a transit visa is only for people traveling via Colombo onwards to a third country with stay of no more than 2 days.
Can I extend my tourism visa once I have reached Sri Lanka
Visitors who wish to stay in Sri Lanka for more than 30 days can apply for a visa extension. A short-term visit visa can be extended for up to 270 days from the date of arrival in three stages: an initial 30 days on entry, followed by a 60-day extension, and then two more extensions of 90 days each. To apply, visitors must submit their extension request in person at the visa section of the Department of Immigration & Emigration. There is also an option to apply for extension online.

What is the meaning of single entry, double entry and multiple entry visa
A single entry visa allows you to enter the country only one time. Once you have entered the country, you cannot re-use same visa to re-enter the country even during the validity of visa. A double entry visa allows you to travel to the country two times (from another country) within the validity of your visa. Similarly a multiple entry visa allows you to travel unlimited time during the validity of your visa.
Can we get visa on arrival while traveling to Sri Lanka
Pakistan is not among the countries entitled for a visa on arrival in Sri Lanka. A pre-approved ETA is mandatory before you start your travel.
